Designing for Growth:

Mindset VBC Website

Here's the Situation

When Mindset Volleyball Club approached me, their website hadn’t kept pace with the growth of their program or the expectations of busy families trying to stay informed. The site was essentially one long page, forcing users to scroll up and down repeatedly to find basic information. Program information, tryout details, schedules, photos — everything was there but buried in a way that made the experience frustrating and inefficient.

So how could we redesign the Mindset website to make it easier for families to find key information while reflecting the energy and professionalism of the club? The goal was to turn the site into a true hub for communication: easy to navigate, quick to update, and visually aligned with the club’s dynamic identity.

The Approach

I began by conducting a content audit and speaking with the club director and parents to understand pain points. It was clear that structure and clarity were top priorities. Users needed quick access to essential information without digging or guessing where to look.

I reorganized the site architecture to separate content into logical sections:

PLAY - Program Offerings and Tryout Information
INFORMATION - Practice Locations, FAQ, Schedules, Payment Info
ABOUT - Mission, Director Bio and Coach Bios
CONTACT - Email address, Phone number

This reorganization aligned with the most common user goals and reduced unnecessary scrolling and confusion.
Visually, I refreshed the site with a clean, modern layout that incorporated the club’s bold red, black, and white color scheme. Streamlined typography, consistent spacing, and strategic use of imagery helped convey both professionalism and energy, reflecting the club’s identity and culture. Mobile responsiveness was also a key priority with 65% of users accessing the website through their mobile devices.

The Impact

The redesigned site directly addressed the core usability issues by reorganizing content into clear sections. This eliminated excessive scrolling, reduced confusion, and made it significantly easier for families to access key information.

The results were substantial:

- Visitors increased by 52% a year after the website was redesigned, from 43,125 in 2023 to 67,679 in 2024.

- The time spent searching for information was reduced from an average of 12 seconds to just 4 seconds, highlighting the impact of improved navigation and clearer content structure.

- Views per visitor jumped from 2.12 to 3.87, showing users were exploring more content and engaging with the website.

These outcomes reflect a site that not only looks better, but works better. It now serves as a true communication hub for the growing Mindset Volleyball community, aligned with their energy, professionalism, and upward momentum.
